May I share some photos I took today? Almost winter in Southcentral Alaska

We took a little road trip down to Girdwood and Portage today ... no snow in Anchorage yet, so if winter won't come to us, we'll go to winter. :)

4. It's only REALLY dark for a couple of months.

6. Hey Condem! I've been to Wasilla.

Though I didn't know it, until about a year ago. I had been through there in 92 on the way up to Denali!

Now it's just one big strip mall. Thank God Palmer kept its character.

When does the Dalton Ice Road open up? (Yes, I am an "Ice Road Truckers" fan.) ;)

3. As far as I know,

the road is open all year round. It's one of those trips my husband and I have been meaning to take some year when we're feeling really adventurous. :)

We watch the Ice Road Truckers, too, and everything else that's on TV about Alaska. I've been living here since 1975 and I still can't enough.

7. I thought the Dalton ice road was only open to truckers.

And only a few months out of the year.

11. That's the way it used to be,

but I think since 1994 or so anyone can drive it (if they dare).

I think we did the usual touristy things. I'll have to go back through my pictures to see where exactly we went.
