Seltzer water!
Edited on Sun Nov-01-09 05:27 PM by AsahinaKimi
Having the Fizz Without the Guilt

I think I have fallen in love with Seltzer water. There is no sodium, no fat, no calories, no caffeine, no sugar, and its simply water and C02. Its like drinking soda, (bubbles!) with none of the bad stuff added. I can always add my own Lemon or lime juice if I want flavor, or some pomegranate juice.

I don't know about the flavored waters.. maybe they are okay.. but I just love Seltzer water! Its slightly bitter... but not overly so like tonic water with Quinine in it. (There is also corn syrup in Tonic water..bleh.)

Its like having water and soda.. kinda cool!

1. We drink a ton of it at our house.
We now have a home carbonating device so we can make our own.

5. I'm not sure if they're available everywhere.
This is the site for the company that makes the device:
http://www.sodaclub.com/

They deliver the gas canisters (in exchange for the empty canisters).

Their syrups and flavorings are terrible, but if you just like seltzer it sure beats carrying all those bottles.

7. Love the stuff w/fresh lemon, lime, orange and grapefruit juices
If you like sweet you can add any of those single-serve Kool-aide packets. But I'm happier w/fresh squeezed fruit juice.

8. Sweet is good sometimes
But natural fruit flavors are so much better. Personally, I like it just as is... Carbonated water.

9. Anywhere that fountain soda is sold you can usually get a glass
of club soda (there's usually a carbonated water button behind where the syrup and water mixes). Seems better than bottled maybe b/c there's MORE bubbles?

19. Cranberry juice
Mixed with seltzer--my favorite! Love it with citrus juice, too. Cran-orange, hmmmm... Now THAT sounds good!

10. Then you want to go with a sodastream!
http://www.sodastream.com

I love seltzer, too! Fucking rocks!!

Loved it for years, and then it was soooooooooooo awesome when I moved to NYC and was able to live amongst people who love seltzer, too, and don't look at you like a fucking jackass for drinking it like they do in Wisconsin.

12. Yes - bought one last summer. OHMYGODIFUCKINLOVEIT!
I can do about 100 liters of fizzy water for $20. (or maybe 200 for $20, I can't remember - either way, it's pennies on the dollar compared to buying seltzer).

14. Craploads in California
http://www.sodastreamusa.com/content/store-locator

Punch in your city, and take a look

I know they're sold at Kohls - that's where I got mine, and at the time, Kohls was the only chain carrying them. Though perhaps by now they have others.

17. Weird - oddly enough, I tried "san francisco" as my test case to see what CA had
and it came up with a lot, including a Williams-Sonoma in San Francisco.

I see seven places in San Francisco.

16. Maybe this is what Debi needs for Christmas.
I'm the only one who'd drink it in my house so one co2 cartridge would last FOREVER! Our water filter breaks off at 500ltr and it needs replacing every 2 yrs or so (we live in the country so we have well water - have a water softener and a drinking water filter).

I was worried the initial investment would be lots but that's not bad at all!
