My newest poem!
“Thoughts”

full of thoughts
my mind churns with them
where they will go
I have no idea

They carry me along
down this tumbling river
full of stones, boulders and fallen trees

But I am fine

My thoughts
foam with the water
and the banks of the river
are high
with tree roots and ferns
and the occasional deer

feeding

in the misty air
hanging over the river
that is full of my

thoughts.

1. That's how I feel sometimes Peggy.
"down this tumbling river full of stones, boulders and fallen trees".

Very apt description.

3. You know, Peggy, if you don't already know this song...
...I'll bet you would enjoy it.

"River Song" by the late Dennis Wilson of The Beach Boys:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTDAt_afhEs

...when he released his solo album "Pacific Ocean Blue" in 1977, he was "The Beach Boy Least Likely" to release ANY solo material of merit.

But critics agree that it was stronger than ANYTHING Carl or Brian had in the hopper at that time.

Life IS a river, and we are in its currents, and we either bond with it or are destroyed by it.

11. I don't ever read the poems but I was bored so I did with this one
I'm no poem expert so bare with me but I like it and the way it 'flows' if you understand what I mean. Very descriptive and it's not 'all over the place' like if I were to attempt a poem.

18. My dear JonLP24!
Well, now, I thank you...

I understand what you say...

Believe me, you would not want to see my early stuff! Learning how to write is a process, and I'm still in it. But there is progress...

25. YVW
I occasionally write verse myself--not as much as I used to. Working two jobs and going to IT classes doesn't leave a lot of downtime:(

16. It reminds me a little of Gordon Lightfoot's "River of Light"
Thanks for sharing it with us!

River of "Light ~ Gordon Lightfoot

(E) (Bsus4)
(E) Heading off on a river at peace in the cool of an evening
(A) Heading off on a river of light, be part of a river at night
(E) Nice to be on a river sometimes, like a June bug travelling
(A) Heading off on a ribbon of song, been away from the river too long
(E) Good to be on a river somewhere, like a milkweed travelling
(A) Heading off on a ribbon of dreams, (F#m) be a part of a river it seems
(E) Can you tell me how (Bsus4) long must I travel (E) on
I (A) won't be looking up old friends
I (Bsus4) won't be looking up old friends ever a(A)gain (Bsus4) (G) (E)

I spent my life taking my time and I can't change anything
Take a look at my river of light, be a part of a river at night
Nice to be on a river at peace, like a June bug travelling
Heading off on a river at last, my tears will be all in the past
Good to be on a river somewhere, like a milkweed travelling
Heading down where the water runs deep, down deep where the fish are asleep now
Can you tell me how long must I travel on
I won't be looking up old friends
I won't be looking up old friends ever again

Trouble don't mean nothing to me and I had my share of it
Heading off on a river of light, be a part of a river at night
Nice to be on a river at peace in the cool of an evening
Heading off on a silver moonlight, maybe love'll find me tonight
Good to be on a river somewhere, like a milkweed travelling
Heading off on a ribbon of dreams, be a part of a river it seems
Can you tell me how long must I travel on
I won't be looking up old friends
I won't be looking up old friends ever again, ever again, ever again

17. Wow, I'd love to have the audio file if you ever record this.
I have a lot of churning thoughts right now, but if I carefully dodge the boulders and assorted obstacles (placed by my husband), I will be okay.

And I do see the occasional deer at the heavily-wooded safe house where I am staying! :)

And I hope things work out really well for you...

Thanks for your very kind comments, sweetie...
