On The Eve Of The Protests...... FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH DAMMIT!!!
and THANK YOU TO ALL INVOLVED :bounce:

There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware

I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind

I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side

It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, the man come and take you away

We better stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, now, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

4. Crosby wasn't in Buffalo Springfield
Stills and Young were. That is Stills singing the lead in For What It's Worth.

5. That song has always given me chills. Here we go again.
Here we go again trying to face down the War Machine.

Here we go again stepping out of our little commercial prescribed social boxes to try to make this country mean more than just a fucking dollar (read OIL).

Here we go again...Funny how they keep pressing us into action, ain't it? They never seem to quit killing for profit.

9. Excellent. Buffalo Springfield.
I posted this song sometime last summer during the war. It's appropriate that you post it now too. :toast:

10. thanks Matcom it's worth a lot dammit
I love that song and it's good to hear it and read the lyrics again. Right back again protesting in the streets to stop an immoral war and bring the troops home.

I'd like to recommend that people go see "Fog of War" too if it's playing in your town. Not necessarily tonight but when you can. It's a good refresher course about the mistakes of governments, intentional and not.

Let's have a good day of protests out there tomorrow.

Sonia

Here it is illustrated with pics — a group effort created last year by DUers.

Most people said they were moved when they watched it.

On edit: See ya in the streets tomorrow! Whose streets?!?! Our streets?!?!? :hi:

12. I say we raise some hell.
"I submit that an individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for the law."

-Martin Luther King Jr.
