3. The exact same thing I thought of too
But absolutely it was appropriate, when you're helping to possibly save lives.

12. I agree.

That segment will probably save a few lives because viewers checked themselves.

it's woman's breast for pity sake, not some car crash or grizzly murder.

27. Remember the Jack Nicholson quote...
In the movies, if you hack off a tit, it's rated R. If you kiss a tit, it's rated X.

We love murder and violence and hate sex and our own bodies. At least, that's what any archeologist would conclude from studying our media.

18. "graphic" has become a euphemism.
It just means something is portrayed in pictoral detail instead of described verbally or implied. It can refer to anything.

the one from the picture of the rapist sketch? Tell me somebody knows what I'm talking about. There's a picture online, of a new anchor side by side with a police sketch.

16. It's totally wrong to show women how to find a horrible disease!
Seriously, how else can it be demonstrated? Sure, any 12-year-old boy watching this will think he has won the lottery, but so what? Is it really worth having women dying horrible, lingering deaths that could have easily been prevented if they had known what to look for? This country really needs to get over its phobia of sexuality.

No pun intended :P

Europe laughs at America's prudery. It's just skin...and if it helped even one woman avoid dying from cancer, it is so very worth it.

Fuck Disney. No matter what "good" they do, or allow to happen on their subsidiaries.

Look what they did to the Pixar classic "Knick Knack" during the short, shameful time Pixar were "sucking the rat":

29. This was absolutely great! Imagine if some young girl who'd had no clue how to do exams saw it
and learned something that might save her life. And believe me, if kids saw bodies more frequently in this way there might be more understanding that they are not just sexually stimulating (though frankly I find no problem with that simple fact either) but the vessels we carry ourselves around in and deserving of care and respect. Kudos, kudos, kudos!

30. Hell yes it was, and is, appropriate.
Women make up more than half of our population.

This is of great concern to all women of all ages. They ought to know how to do this properly. This is a public service.

The American obsession with tits (and let me just say that I love tits) is no excuse to not run something like this tape early, often, and repeatedly.

Edited on Fri Oct-30-09 05:34 PM by Rabrrrrrr
and the fact that the TV show had to "warn" people, and had to call it "graphic" also shows how fucked up we are as a society.

are to be commended for doing this. There was absolutely nothing wrong or untoward with that video. I would feel comfortable for any age or gender to see it. It is sn excellent teaching tool and good way to start a conversation about breast exams and how important is early detection.

on edit: Have you considered posting this in GD?
