It kind of has the rhythm of the opening to Bel Biv DeVoe's Poison.

Are they haunting my electronics?

2. Your cell phone is sending a signal to the device the CIA planted in your toaster
to start recording your conversation, in case you mention anything about that one project. You know the one.

Don't know why but sometimes city buses, which are electric here, do the same thing.

22. I think it's sending some kind of periodic "in service" signal
Periodically. My PC speakers pick up up sometimes when nobody is calling, and they go nuts when I do get a call.

If the phone is close enough to the wires.

It must be some kind of resonate harmonic... cel phones (non-Sprint) operate at about 850 MHz, which if it was resonating in the wires would be far above human hearing range.

I didn't notice this with my old phone, which was on my same provider and from the same company.

33. Older GSM or "EDGE" phones transmit on a frequency that's very close...
Edited on Fri Oct-30-09 08:24 PM by Kutjara
...to the frequency of electricity employed in home appliances. If said appliance happens to be hooked up to a speaker, interference between the phone and the appliance makes the speaker emit the "dit dit dit" sound whenever the phone is sending or receiving a signal from the cell tower. "3G" phones don't do this, because their carrier frequencies are sufficiently different so as not to cause interference.
