Man has eaten only candy since age 6.
This morning in the NY Times "Dining" section.

With very few exceptions he says his main source of nutrition is candy.

1. I feel kind of sorry for him.
actually, no "kind of" involved. I feel sorry for him.

I mean, I'm sitting here right now enjoying an egg white omelet, loaded with veggies and covered in salsa, and I'm loving every minute of it.

Don't get me wrong, I like ice cream and KitKats too, but it's the variety in a diet that makes it most enjoyable.

4. I feel that way about people who won't try different foods.
They won't go near something unusual. How boring to just eat the same things day in and day out.

2. Good thing you posted this in the lounge.
If it was in GD someone would have posted an opinion about whether or not food stamps could be used to purchase candy.

3. God help him if he used food stamps to pay for any of it.
Judging from the batshittiness over in GD on that topic.

5. How odd.
As an adult I really don't enjoy sugary foods very much and would far rather eat something seasoned with garlic rather than doused in syrup. Not only that, but when I eat lots of sugar and carbs I feel physically like crap. Mr. Rudnick must have an unusual metabolic system.

6. I've noticed a lot of DUers posting here still have that "sweet palate" .
I enjoy sweets only very occasionally.

9. I hear ya
If I don't eat protein for breakfast, I feel light-headed and cranky.

Same goes for lunch and dinner. :(

7. HE DOES SEEM TO EAT A BIT OF NON CANDY ITEMS.
"And, he added, his diet does include some foods, which, if not exactly health foods, do at least have a sugar level that is minor or nil, like Cheerios."

Still, I can't figure out how this guy is still alive or not obese as hell.

8. interesting
But OTOH, there are people that smoke 3 packs a day and live to 90.

Not something I would want to emulate.
