Mrs. WC Green just called me from intermission at the Leonard Cohen

concert I was waiting to see since I discovered him back in the early 90's...

He never toured though Ohio.

I wanted so badly to be there that I almost fell into depression when I realized my illness would precluded yet another celebration.

And then I realized I am a 52 year old man and that disappointment is part of life it is, after all, what makes the joy that much better.

I will get over it.

After they scope me tomorrow I will be able to start making a new round of plans, some will be thwarted and some will be realized. But I do know that I will never give up hope and will still look out at the future as something that included me.

And it sure is a big part of life. I remember the time my husband and I had planned a trip to Hawaii. It was going to be such a great trip, and we were so excited.

Then I got sick. We had to cancel. I was upset like I had never been before. It was really tough.

But the day arrived that we were able to go, and we had a ball...

You will do the same! Maybe not Leonard Cohen, but someone you've always wanted to hear...

And how right you are: Disappointments only serve to make the joyful times so much sweeter...

I am sure the future will be something that includes you, for many, many years...
