Info-mercials On The History Channel??
Okay... someone with a satellite dish might know the answer to my next question.

Does the History Channel broadcast infomercials, or is Comcast cable INSERTING them in the wee hours of the morning? (and thereby DENYING my viewing pleasure of the History Channel... which I pay for... which they are not providing!)

I don't know about you... but if the History Channel, Inc. is actually broadcasting their own programming... then by golly it OUGHT to be shown and not pre-empted by my cable company.

If anyone knows the answer or if you can confirm my suspicions, please let me know.

1. I went to "Tv Guide"
(on the internet) and typed in a random set of area codes and on every one the History Channel had Paid Programming in the early hours of the morning......so it appears that it's not just your cable company.
Hope this helps.

2. Clever! I Should Have Thought Of That...
... thanks very much for your effort.

Now that we know it's not just in my city... I need to do more research to find out if it's just Comcast cable, or if Cox (et al) are involved in this "conspiracy".

Or... if indeed... the History Channel is broadcasting garbage in the early morning hours.

5. Or go here

I think it's just possible that Info-Documentaries might be a euphemism for infomercial.

3. Yes; it only started this year
but since their programming went to hell about the same time, I pretty much switched them off anyway. Used to be the background I'd go to sleep to; now they go to infomercials at 4 Eastern (which is an hour better than Discovery or TLC, but still). Sucks for you West Coasters even more.

6. Yes... I Use History Channel To Lull Me To Sleep As Well...
... or to lull me back to sleep if I wake up (fully) in the middle of the night. It's truly maddening to hear the buy-buy-BUY hype of infomercials and the fake "oohs" and "ahhhhs" of the fake studio "audiences".

7. They were "merged" quietly and their programming sucks now..
Bravo was recently "merged" too..so look out..

TLC and Discovery and Animal Planet used to create their own programming...now they are just outlets for reworked "documentaries".:(:(

we are doomed :(

9. And some of those documentaries are propaganda
Discovery Times channel is the worst...anti-Clinton 'experts' on a documentary about Kosovo, and other such BS. If it weren't for BBC America and HBO, I would go back to basic cable.

10. yep.. propaganda ..pure and simple..
and so many of them have introductions by ....Stone Phillips :(

They used to be different and edgy, and now they are all the same.. boring and predictable..

One of the MANY disovery channels we have is mostly "discoveries of ancient religion".. they are always showing Biblical stuff (in achaeoligical terms, of course..wink wink)

4. Food network does the same thing
I think from about 4-8 am they do infommercials. :grr: I only know this b/c when I was sick back in June I was up late a lot and otherwise found FoodTV to be very comforting.

It does seem wrong though, to already be a paid subscription channel and STILL have infommercials.

8. The Mormons take over Cspan1 once a month.. for 8 hours straight
I was so pissed the first time they did that.. I was right in the middle of a very interesting panel discussion and whammmmo.. Mormon Tabernacle choir and preaching for 8 hours..

of course they do NOT do it on cspan 2 where they are happily showing booktv stuff from MARCH:eyes:..

I have called and complained to our cable Adelphia every time it happens, and they just shrug it off.. It's not lkike they lack empty channels./.:grr:
