and Wolf Blitzer interviewed them - looks like a great show. I'll have to check the listings to see when it is on.

13. Some of the funniest TV that I've seen
Also putting out the right messages. Each episode starts with the reluctant straight guy that you could put a word balloon on that says "What the fuck have I gotten myself into?" And inevitably they warm up to the Fab 5, become respectful of their knowledge, and always praise them in the end for all of the help.

I'm hooked.

19. I adore that show...
People here have said that it reinforces stereotypes--I don't find that to be true. I think it BREAKS DOWN stereotypes, especially for the straight guy being "made-better". They always start out terrified and end up grateful and comfortable with the general gay fabulousness.

Plus, as a straight woman, every one of those guys looks SO HOT afterward--thank GOD for the Fab 5!

Edited on Wed Aug-13-03 10:03 AM by supernova
since I don't have cable. Just the sanitized version on NBC.

But what I've seen looks hilariously entertaining. And let's face it, these guys can use the help! :D

I perfer this type of reality programming. Nobody is getting humiliated, or put down, or deeply embarrassed in a major way.

edit: besides, I could use a makeover myself.

25. I have not seen it
And I doubt I will with my PhD program coming into full swing next week. But it sounds like either 1) tokenism and/or 2) spoonfeeding stereotypes to the public. I have a lot of stereotypical behaviors, but I am getting tired of this stereotype of "gay men want to make over your house and wardrobe." I want to makeover MY OWN house and wardrobe!

28. Love it!
I think it's very sweet...the guys are amusingly appalled by the horrors they witness, but NEVER mean about it or patronizing. And wow, they work MIRACLES.

Besides, they're so damn funny - and it doesn't hurt that a couple of them are just toooooo gorgeous to be believed (Kyan has my vote, but Jai is just as cute as a bug's ear).

Plus I get some good ideas from the show.
