One crapped out kitty.
This is my sweet Lena, all crapped out in the chair she has managed to make her own, as you can see. LOL
The first one was taken yesterday and the second one just a few minutes ago. She is a really odd kitty but very lovable. She still likes to crawl up and lay on my shoulder like she did when she was tiny (she's just about 19 mos. old now) and she normally doesn't meow. But when I'm brushing my teeth, she sits over on the toilet waiting for me to finish. When I'm done she starts trilling at me until I come over and gently blow the scent of the toothpaste in her nose. She loves it and acts just like she's just been given catnip.

1. Awww! She is adorable.
:loveya:

I've got a shoulder monkey kitty too. He weighs probably 17 or 18 pounds, though. Gah!

31. And they always want
to be up there when you're on the phone or the computer. I can't get her up there any other time. :hi:

An orange female -- unusual.

4. All the ones I have known are male
Why is that?

5. Color is linked to sex in cats
Tortoiseshell and Calico (3 color cats) are female; if a male has this kind of coloring, he is sterile.
Most solid orange tabbies are male; I don't know the percentage but it's very high, like 80-90%.

9. Female orange tabbies are not as rare as male torties and calicos.
I don't think it's THAT rare, I think it's more like 1 in 5. I've known a few myself, though I've never met a male tortie (and would like to.)

I think the genetics are fascinating. I have a black-and-orange tortie (female of course) and she's kind of nuts - some theorize that the mosiacism that leads to that color pattern might affect their brains as well.

14. If 1 in 5 is female, that means 80% is male
That sounds consistent with what I said.

22. We thought it was a male when we were
going to pick it up. We usually have females, and prefer them, but we thought his picture was so cute even if it was a boy. We're fine with Lena being a girl, tho. She and her little sister, Lucy, get along so well and love each other so much, they're really funny to watch.

:hi:

8. That's exactly what my two boys looked like when I found them! They were two
weeks old and I had to feed them with a bottle just like that. Brings back memories. One of them is gone now and the other is SIXTEEN! I can hardly believe it. They were so cute I just about died when I found them. So tiny and pink and fuzzy. :loveya:

6. Does your toothpaste have mint in it?
That's why.

I had a cat who went nuts for catnip & ANYTHING mint-flavored...including gum wrappers.... :eyes:

10. Mentholatum and Vicks Vapor Rub
My two girls growing up, Feathers and Patches, went gonzo if my bro or I were slathered with the stuff. And I mean aggressive.. they'd lick through PJs and gawd forbid you tried to gently scoot them off.... nope. That menthol was theirs. Dig at blankets, PJs, or if you tried to roll on your side or stomach, they'd still pester.

GAWD I miss them...

19. Luckily it was a free one that I picked up
just until we can get the house finished. It was in pretty bad shape when I got it but she's making it worse. The bad part is when she scratches out a tack and I nearly step on it. :o

18. LOL Mine hate toothpaste breath. It makes them scrunch up and go blink-blink. Then they run away.
Edited on Tue Oct-20-09 11:06 AM by GreenPartyVoter
This goes for anything minty. Chapsticks, candies, etc.

You have one adorable kitteh, though. My orange tiger loves to huff bleach instead of toothpaste, so at least yours isn't losing brain cells. :P

24. Actually, it's my boy cat who does it. Girl cat couldn't care less. And yeah, I stopped
using clorox sprays for my kitchen counters because he huffs them and rolls around like I gave him catnip. What a wacko!

I love taking pictures of cats sleeping. Almost all of their sleeping poses look uncomfortable to humans.

Lena has a very pretty coat.

She is very pretty. Even is she has a big 'ol butt.

Actually, it's weird that she only looks like that when she's sitting. When she's walking she looks pretty sleek and normal.
