Good morning Lounge
How are you today?

How was your weekend?

My weekend was busy and quiet. Saturday was a busy day at work. At least that way it went by fast. I was sitting at the busiest cash registet. And the customers were mostly nice. Helped a lot.
Sunday I slept, read and got my condo tidy in some parts. I can say it was a peaceful day. I finished reading "206 bones" by Kathy Reichs.
Now I started "Ester and Ruzya: How My Grandmothers Survived Hitler's War and Stalin's Peace" by Masha Gessen http://www.amazon.com/Ester-Ruzya-Grandmothers-Survived-Hitlers/dp/B001OERNUG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1255337176&sr=8-2

Last night they showed "Amadeus" on TV here. The end still makes me bawl. No matter how often I watch the movie, no matter that I know the story. I think a big part is the "Requiem". Such a great piece of music. Mozart sure was a genius.

Picture of the Day

1. Good morning Miss Honeychurch!
:hi: :loveya:

Glad you had a good weekend. I was at work as usual.

That sounds like an interesting book, the one you just started.

I haven't seen Amadeus in years.

What a cool picture with the one pigeon in flight there...coming in for a landing.

2. Good morning cwydro
:hi:  :loveya:

I am interested in history, so life stories and biographies are on my reading lists. And history books. So I know this will be an interesting read.

I haven't seen Amadeus in ages either. I have it on DVD though. Or was it on video. Then it is now useless to me. Oh well, they show it every now and then on TV.

Thanks for the compliment on the picture.

3. Good morning MissH!
I don't know where the weekend went. Didn't do anything special, just a few domestic chores, ran some errands, did a little cooking, and some reading.

Glad to hear that Saturday at work went well and that you had nice customers.

:hi: :loveya:

:hi:  :loveya:

Well, there was a mad customer right at the beginning, but after that everything went pretty smooth. This week I will work only Friday evening, I have Saturday off. A normal weekend for me again :woohoo:

What did you cook? I kept it simple and made me a pizza yesterday. Nothing too fanzy. But it tasted good :D

9. I made turkey mulligatawny,
it is yummy and my house smells like curry. Enough leftovers for a few meals.

I'm having my book club at my house tomorrow evening so tonight I'm going to make my world famous chili.

Please say hi to AirmensMom from me. Tell her I miss her here, but she is certainly on an adventure of a lifetime.

that sounds yummy. Now that the temps are cooler I can cook my chili or sauce Bolognese again too. Perfect for cold days.

You can email AirmensMom. She will answer. Might take a bit but she answers.

it is time again for those dishes. I am only started in the last couple of years to enjoy stews.

She will be happy about an email. She doesn't want to lose contact to her friends.

4. Good Morning Miss Honeychurch :)
:hi:  :loveya: :pals:

Sounds like we almost had the same weekend, aside from Amadeus. Work went well and fast on Saturday, and Sunday was quiet and full of rest.

I go into Monday feeling better than I have in three weeks. :bounce:

I enjoyed yesterday. It was so relaxing to just stay on the couch and read and listen to some music. So peaceful. I really needed that. Some quality time with myself.

Glad to hear that you are feeling better  Continue on that path :D

10. Yes'm, I will.
It's such a relief to be over it. Staying on the Vitamin C to keep the system clean, it's gotten cool here all of a sudden.

Now all I need is an enthusiam pill for work.

5. Morning!
The kids had Friday off but we spent the weekend packing more stuff and organizing this place we used to call our house. MORE rain today which means the tarps will stay on the roof a little longer. Doh! On the bright side, I don't have to do any Halloween decorating because the place looks so scary on its own. :P

I'm reading The Book Thief. Have you read it?

I haven't heard of that book. I will check it out.

One book I enjoyed tremendously was "The Shadow of the Wind" by Carlos Ruiz Zafon http://www.amazon.com/Shadow-Wind-Carlos-Ruiz-Zaf%C3%B3n/dp/0143034901/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1255345905&sr=8-2

14. Good morning, Miss H
I'm doing well today and I had a good weekend. I mostly just read and goofed off on DU. I'm currently reading The Dragons of Eden by Carl Sagan. I listened to a little football as well last weekend. My team (the Cincinnati Bengals) is off to a good start this year. I live about 65 kilometers north of Cincinnati.

The days are getting cool here now and the leaves are changing colors. For some reason, when autumn arrives, I become filled with hope and general state of well being. That lasts until the first time it snows. Then I start cursing weather gods and continue to do so until spring. :D

I'm fine today. Just very hungry right now.

This weekend was good. The two football teams I root for won. :woohoo:
However the Rockies lost last night to go behind the best-of-5 series 2-1. :evilfrown:

I'm glad you had a good weekend and nice to read about positive stories about customers. :D

:hi:  :loveya:

Regarding sports: The German soccer team won against Russia on Saturday and is qualified for the World Cup in South Africa next year.

Sometimes it is amazing how rude customers are. It is not my fault as a cashier that the prices are wrong in the register. I don't type in the prices. Therefor don't get pissed at me. And I am sorry, when you are expecting to find a full shelf with milk at 5 minutes before closing on a Saturday evening (10pm), then it might be possible that the milk is all gone. :eyes: But other than that they were all nice and friendly. :D

I have heard U.S.A. made it too but I don't really root for them in Soccer, I rooted for Spain when they had Raul so I guess that makes me anti-American.

About your job I'm so glad I don't work with customers. I can imagine customer service to be 10x worse. My ex-wife did that kind of work and she always had stories. There was one time this customer was so irate and wouldn't let up(like it was her fault) that she hung up on him.

19. Good Afternoon, MissH
I love the movie "Amadeus" - it's so good :)

I had a busy weekend. On Friday I started writing my paper for class, then a friend came down from Philadelphia and we went to the Maryland Renaissance Festival on Saturday; it was a lot of fun. On Sunday I found out that the prof had changed the topic of the paper so I had to start over, which was quite annoying.

Did you go dancing with your friend?

Amadeus is a great movie. But Tom Hulce never managed to make another good movie after that. oh wait, I just saw that he played in "Stranger than fiction". Didn't even notice him there

No, we didn't go dancing. But that was OK. That way I was able to do at least a bit in my condo. Otherwise I would have needed all day to regenerate.

26. G'day, MissH!
:hi:

Another round of rain this morning. Had to stop and clear the storm drain so the water doesn't go into my apartment.

Had a great time at the renfest opening weekend, and the weather was excellent. Cloudy both days, but a little rain early on Saturday and warm. Sunday was cloudy and cooler. The garlic shoppe was back so I bought more garlic and garlic spice powder. :9 Did it early so I don't have to worry about them running out of stuff.

It was a mini-reunions. Glad to see everyone I hadn't seen in a few months, or at worse since last year. :hi: Will be back in 2 weeks.
