till I saw it on Wiki today, and thought I knew every bit of Ely trivia...obviously not... Knew of his association with them including being mentioned on a Clash song (having a senior moment/brain fart and can't remember which song) and have lots of bootleg Ely stuff from one of my several friends that used to work for him mainly in the 80's, including one with he and Springsteen onstage together ( I think doing Cool Rockin Loretta). Embarrassingly, I dropped that CD and stumbled picking it up, stepped on it and mangled it pretty much. I could get a another copy but would have to endure my buddy laughing at my general klutziness... But yeah, The Clash became fans of his back when there was a Clash, and worked together. As a huge Clash fan ( 2nd only to the E Street Band in my personal pantheon of greatest bands ever), who has some personal connection to some former members of the greater Ely organization ( again mainly 80's era Ely Band), I find that fact to be incredibly cool ....on edit, hey , if you and your wife ( I believe I remember you mentioning somewhere that you're married) ever get to Albuquerque for a night of musical carousing, I play a reunion show of an old band of mine every December; also at the El Rey downtown . I don't really do much with them anymore, just mainly backup vocals( I'm barely on camera the entire video I'm gonna post), with one or 2 lead vocals and a harp solo or 2, but it's a great band. This year's is on Dec. 12th. I'm gonna post that in the NM forum in early December too. One of the 3 women singers, in fact the one singing Just One Look on what I'm about to post from youtube, was also the singer for the Planets, who I mentioned that Joe's drummer in the video you posted also was in. I think there also may be a video of them at the reunion show by now...
