'iSnack2.0'? Kraft learns not to screw with cultural icons like Vegemite

New Vegemite puts Kraft in pickle

It was never going to be easy tampering with a food spread adopted as a culture icon in Australia and New Zealand.

But when Kraft, makers of Vegemite, chose a name for a new variation - iSnack2.0 - public distress forced an embarrassing backtrack.

Kraft had chosen the name after asking for suggestions from the public, for a new, more creamy, cheesy Vegemite.

Three days later, the name has been ditched after complaints it was "the worst name ever" and "unAustralian".

I know this is the International Year of Blasphemy but this is beyond blasphemy ... this is Travesty.

If I want cheesy Vegemite I'll add some bloody cheese. If I want creamy Vegemite I'll eat Marmite. What next, creamy cheesy bready Vegemite, so you can just eat your sandwich from the jar?
