You know, sometimes you have to have a pretty thick skin to post here.
Sometimes, you have to have skin like a rhinoceros.

Or even a thesaurus.

That's what I'm trying to say...you have to have skin like a thesaurus.

Thank you for letting me get this off my chest.

8. To get serious for a moment...
I'm not entirely sure if I have ever been "hurt" by something that was said to me on the internet...I'm not sure if hurt is the right word.

But I can say with certainty that I have been angered.

then remembered that it's only the internet.

11. I try to do that...
and usually fail miserably when I realize that there is some fucking asshole typing the words that are pissing me off who wouldn't have the stones to say whatever it is to my face.

Your point is a good one though, and well taken.

10. That's very true.
I've actually had to think of posting here, sometimes, as an act of courage rather than sociability and I make a conscious effort to stay as neutral as possible, even when I'm the one being attacked.

The ability to forgive is a trait I admire and the inability, well, it strikes me as a weakness.

12. Hi crim son...
My opinion is this...

The inability to forgive may be a weakness, or it may not be. To me, it is directly correlated to my perception of the degree of the "offense".

To equate it to "real life", if someone continues to fuck with me in a harmful way without remorse, then me not forgiving is the exact opposite of a weakness.

13. Yes, if the harm is ongoing, forgiveness is next to impossible.
I was thinking of offenses in the past that ought to be left in the past. If there was foregivenes, then there wouldn't be endless anger and attacks. And LFP, I am thinking of my own circumstances and nobody else's, FWIW.

16. Never forget those famous words from Khan to get you thru any situation:
"He tasks me. He tasks me and I shall have him!
I'll chase him 'round the moons of Nibia and 'round the Antares Maelstrom and 'round Perdition's flames before I give him up!"

18. Welcome to DU...

:hi:

Well, let's see. Yes, you are reading too much into this particular post. You will find that the majority of my posts are total crap, like this one.

But, you are not reading too much into the concept of needing a thick skin to post here. If you read the DU rules, they will even tell you that.

If you post something that is generally not liked here, or, if you get under the skin of the forum, you may be attacked without mercy.

The key is to let it roll off you...not to let it bother you.

In general though, this place is fun if you make it fun. I hope you enjoy it here. :)

19. oh hullo LFP
Sorry I didn't see this post yesterday. Thanks for the welcome and I do enjoy it here. I know what the majority of your posts are like, the kinda total crap I enjoy posting total crap in response to. Well, my post was meant to be total crap in that I was "reading" a thesaurus entry, y'know? If it didn't come across as crap then I sincerely apologise. :)
