OK, all this talk about Carolina BBQ sauce, cole slaw, and hoo-hahs
(can't forget the hoo-hahs) has made me hungry for some eats. Later this afternoon I'm off to the grocery store (terra incognita for me most of the time, and a scary proposition all of the time) for some pork and rub ingredients.

Going to fire up the smoker, do a couple of Boston Butts low and slow, and have some pulled pork (no jokes, please) tomorrow. Hmmm. Have to invite some people over to eat it. Maybe I can prevail upon them to bring sides .....

8. There's a pair of ladies
who live next door who I'll probably invite over, among other folks. One of them runs a catering company. They are a couple, describe themselves as "lipstick lesbians", and since they're my friends and really not into the whole Caligula genre, I'll probably give that one a pass, and wait for some other occasion to run the racy hetero semi-porn. Besides, there will probably be a couple of guys there that haven't met these ladies, and watching the interaction will probably be amusing all by itself.

15. I haven't seen it in a lot longer than that!
I saw the R-rated version when it came out. The only seats left were in the front row. That certainly made it an even weirder movie-watching experience ;)

What is pulled pork without beer? It would be uncivilized!

That beats meat any day, unless you're using a meat-analogue

23. Cheers!
I'm not much of a cook. Which is a shame because I have a pretty well developed palate. So this probably won't be vegetarian / vegan friendly. Except for sides, and whatever else other folks bring. Plenty of beer, however, should remove some of the sting.

26. If you follow the recipes, you usually can't go wrong.
Cooking is like being a chemist. Things usually work out. The main thing is getting the spices just right. Do that, and people won't notice if the meat is a little under- or overdone ;)

If you like to read and/or collect cookbooks and related books, I recommend "The Complete Book of Spices: A Practical Guide to Spices and Aromatic Seeds" by Jill Norman. Plenty of info on using spices as well as spice blends from around the world :D
