00s music thread - post one song you love from the 00s
I know many don't like the 2000s, but to me, they have been better than the 90s. The 90s, just like every decade, had a lot of good artists (and some very noteworthy singer/songwriters) and songs, but also had a lot of boy bands, alternative, and dance/pop. I have loved all of these 2000s artists and more:

A Fine Frenzy, Michelle Branch, Avril Lavigne, The Pierces, Anna Nalick, The Veronicas, Kay Hanley solo, Nina Gordon solo, Josh Ritter, Hey Monday, Karmina, Regina Spektor, The Hold Steady, The Gaslight Anthem, Kelly Clarkson, Metric, The New Pornographers, recent Mandy Moore, The Shins, Stacie Rose, The Dollyrots, Damone, Camera Obscura, Kate Voegele, Tinted Windows, Molly Jenson, Brooke White, Caitlin Crosby, Pink, Fransisca London, She & Him, Tilly and the Wall, The Weepies, Cara Luft, Marie Digby, Prescilla Ahn, Aly & AJ, Margot & The Nuclear So and So's, Leona Naess, Coldplay, Stars, Rilo Kiley/Jenny Lewis, Vanessa Carlton, The Love Willows, The Wreckers & Jessica Harp, Sugarland, Taylor Swift, Miranda Lambert, The Format, The Decemberists, The Like, Sufjan Stevens, Eisley, Wussy, Bonnie McKee, Vivian Girls, All Girl Summer Fun Band, Paramore, Girls Aloud, etc.

Artists like The Corrs, Neko Case, Fountains Of Wayne, Dixie Chicks, Brad Paisley, Jimmy Eat World, Collective Soul, Green Day, Bruce Springsteen, U2, Aimee Mann, and Garbage had much of their good work in the 00s. Adam Lambert is very promising. And I continue to make new discoveries: most recent 3 were Linden, Motion Where You Go, and Kina Grannis. Kina sounds like a terrific singer/songwriter. Katy Perry has some real pop gems on her CD.

Of course, there have been things I haven't liked: the Jonas Brothers haven't reached the fun potential they showed on A Little Bit Longer, there's still a lot of rap and nu-metal, Nickelback type rock, Brooke Hogan and Paris Hilton (examples of bad pop,) too much emo/screamo, the average Colbie Caillat, and those critical darlings I just don't "get" - YACHT, Marnie Stern, Arctic Monkeys, Animal Collective, Arcade Fire, M.I.A., Lightning Bolt, Bon Iver, and more. But I do like critical favs TV On The Radio, Dirty Projectors, and Grizzly Bear.

For my song, I'm going to choose A Fine Frenzy's "Hope For The Hopeless." After all, she's one of my all-time faves with two masterpiece albums. This song is from the first one, One Cell In The Sea, and is unique in style among all her songs:

7. Thanks, DM. I've been wanting to buy some Death Cab for Cutie, but..
just lack the money right now. I'm saving for the new A Fine Frenzy CD. Amazon takes out the money when shipped. And just bought The Love Willows' CD on iTunes. :hi:

Do you know how good Narrow Stairs is?

Since we are taking about CDs to buy, I just got the new Ingrid Michaelson and think it solidifies her as a top singer/songwriter. Not that the more intimate feeling of Girls & Boys wasn't good, too.

16. Hi MVD...great thread as usual
Despite my general dislike of this decade and almost everything about it -including the music -there has been some good music I've liked from this decade -although a general warning, some of the music I'm going to post was only released in Australia in 2000 but were hits in the US in 1999. So technically they were '90s' hits but I heard them in the 2000s and they would regarded as 2000s music in Australia. Anyway, with that lengthy caveat

"Crash and Burn" -Savage Garden
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uB4lT5CblA

"Bent" -Matchbox 20
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WcYTsNVG4U8

"It Wasn't Me" Shaggy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQ4axo9rmJY

"Caught in the Middle" -A1

"Angel" -Shaggy

"I Need A Girl" -Part 1 -P Diddy

I advise at least exploring some of my choices - you might not like the decade's music as much as I do, but you might find new discoveries. Politically, this has been a horrible decade, but sometimes music gets better in times like these.

I remember Savage Garden, and like them. Rob Thomas is still going strong with a solo career. :hi:

I think the 2000's are okay, it just appears to me that rap/pop have dominated since the Britney/Nsync of the late 90's. I can't wait for rock/soft rock, or metal to take a more prominent role. Granted, finding new music is hard, especially when mtv/vh1 hardly ever show anything.
