Poll question: Princess Bride totally overrated or not?
And I don't know how a kid in the 1980's could sit and listen to someone read a long book to him all day. When i was stuck in the house that summer I had to tape Letterman to have something to watch on tv during the day.

1. It's okay, but kind of a chick flick among cult films

4. I read the book in the 80's, way before the movie, and realized early on that it was better than
99% of the fantasy out there, so I slowed myself down and only read a few pages a day to make it last, instead of reading the whole thing in 4 or 5 hours. I managed to spread it over two weeks.

The movie, strangely enough, was just as good as the book.

He (William Goldman) wrote another book called The Gondoliers of Venice. It did no look as good, so I did not read it. Wonder if I missed something...

7. I've never met a person I liked who actually enjoyed that movie.
All the assbags I know think it's great.

I'm not surprised.

12. I think Drunken is slamming Utah Mormon culture rather than Princess Bride
from experience i can tell you that what's popular there is often based on how many swear words are used rather than the actual quality of the thing.

:hi:

17. Insist on only genuine gratuitous brand insults
Ask for them by name, and if your vendor tries to pass off some lousy insult that's "just as good," kick him in the junk!

And that, my friends, was no gratuitous insult.

18. I never met one I liked who didn't.
The people I know who don't think it's a great film generally vote for Republicans and wish Thomas Kincaide had done a portrait of Elvis.

11. It was ok.
Not great, but decent. I've seen worse, and, of course, seen much better.

15. I read the book back when it first came out.
It was so hilarious, the movie (which I finally saw recently) paled in comparison.

For Mandy Patinkin's performance alone, I'll watch this every time I surf upon it.

Great supporting cast. Chris Sarandon. Andre the Giant.

Billy Crystal is a little annoying though.

And the torture machine makes me think of Republicans.
