1. My dear Ptah!
What a wonderful pic!

I wondered what those birds were...

Now, I know!

Thanks, sweetie!

2. Ah. I thought the cam was ON the osprey, so you get an ariel "birds eye" view, but this is

6. It's a cool view, but it's stuck on yesterday afternoon's photo.
I'd like to see a parent bird feeding those big babies!

8. Wow! A magnificent creature!
Even the Joint Strike Fighter can't come close
to it's agility. No man-made machine ever will.

Perfectly evolved for it's niche in the ecosystem.

12. A few winters ago I took some pictures of a Osprey by White Oak Bayou.
The day was really windy and cold, the sky a deep blue.

It looks like it was young bird.

13. There's a nest on the edge of the bayou just a few blocks from me.
A couple of years ago I saw a fledgling take his first flight.
I've also seen an adult with a 'double'...
Tow fish, one in each talon, both held aerodynamically head first into the flight path. Looked like this:

Wonder how he (she?) did that?

14. That's amazing!
I used to volunteer at the Marine Mammal Center (rehabilitation of injured/orphaned sea mammals), and one of the first things we were taught was to hold the fish for the sea lions and seals by the tail and drop them into their mouths because they can only swallow fish head first. It seems obvious, but I never had reason to consider it before!
