Yes, I'm a little depressed and DEFINITELY stressed out
at work which being stressed at work effects my whole life. So why in the Hell have I been listening to Nirvana for two weeks? Somethin' about Kurt's voice so resonates with me, I just can't stop. When I hear the song and then look at the title, I never realized that they're so different. I always loved his music but wouldn't be able to name a lot of songs. Maybe the anger and hopelessness is what's really getting me. The young man was a genius....

2. Cobain was very talented

and very troubled. I hope Nirvana's music can help you dispel your stress.
Stress is very dangerous, it's a freakin' killer.

3. Boy, can I relate to what you're saying.
:hi:

Just don't start getting into the Doors. I'm not even able to listen to them anymore. Tragic what happened to Morrison, or what he did to himself, I should say. It's a waste like Kurt. Can you imagine what these brilliant young men could have done if they didn't burn out so quickly?

Lately, I've been obsessed with music. It's probably due to frustration and anger and stress. Not to get into it, but I'm maxed out on politics and the world in general. If I don't have my music, I'm horrible. My daughter asked me to turn off my Dio music when I was driving the other day. After I nearly exploded from road rage, she asked me to turn it back on. Guess she figured the music was the lesser of two evils, the greater being me without anything to diffuse my aggression.

It's damn depressing lately. Too many assholes. Too few jobs. No health care. War. What next?

Tim Leary's immortal phrase, "Turn on, tune in, drop out" is starting to sound pretty good right about now. (Except turn on for me is a Guinness or two.)

5. That totally sums up how I've been feeling. It sucks. I've been
doing a lot of self-reflection and I'm realizing that the "Corporate" world is just not something I can endure. I'm looking at options. I don't believe in suicide (I just feel so strongly that if we commit suicide we have to come back and live our exact lives over). I know I can be happy so I just really need to take action and get out of this situation.

6. Without getting too esoterical, I'll just say this...

... The realization process your describe resonates with me, and I read you loud and clear.

I'm gonna guess you've been feeling it, and now is the culmination of these feelings. I'll also be you're getting ready to move into another chapter of your life. These things are needed, so if that music bring it up for you to make that next move, I'd say you're gonna be alright.

You're moving through it with support. :hi:

8. It's difficult to be without any course of action. Waiting really sucks.
A lot of us are in the same bind. The feeling of being powerless is overwhelming. My instinct has always been to push back, to fight tooth and nail, but it doesn't work in this situation. It seems more and more we are all being called on for strength and patience.

It sounds like you are feeling just as helpless as I am. The world is not the world where anything is possible anymore. Maybe Americans were spoiled and deluded for believing it ever was. I've got a beautiful granddaughter who wants to be a ballet dancer and a princess. Once upon a time, we all had such innocent dreams. But "Once upon a time" never was and never will be. We finally get that when we age, but the belief that we can manifest our dreams never goes away. Sure we can achieve success if we are good at stepping on a lot of people to get there, but is that really success?

It feels like I'm in a holding pattern and low on fuel. But I just keep circling because there really isn't anything else to do. A lot of us are feeling helpless right now.

Maybe this is a time to get back to the essentials, to what really matters. All I know for sure is that the gage is low and the ground is an long way down.

10. Aw, thanks. Love that video.
I've had dreams like that, but Dio wasn't in any of them.

The lightsaber part at the end always makes me laugh.

Great song.

11. Off topic: do you like prog rock at all?
If you do, I'd like to strongly recommend Toto's album "Falling In Between". The whole damn thing. Listen front to back if you get it.
If it's not your thing, hope you find solace in continuing to listen to your Dio. Love me some of that too. :)

7. I hope the music helps.
:)

I'm sorry you're so stressed out.

I hope something at work changes and improves. It really sucks when work becomes such a problem. And worst of all, with the economy as fucked up as it is, changing jobs isn't really an option.

12. oh I have been there. I reached a point where I could not do my job
well simply due to anxiety and performance stress. Saw a counselor, did some real venting and got an order for a very helpful med, and a very helpful stress management group that the counselor had going.

so I hope you find a way to work up from this, it is a miserable place to be. You do have friends here though!
