I got a single suite-style room in residence!
Yay! This makes me even more excited for university now. The building I'm in is really nice and quieter than most of the other residence buildings. I'm going to have my own bedroom and share a kitchen (okay, a room with a microwave on a counter) with three other people. Best of both worlds!

1. My dear lightningandsnow!
That sounds wonderful!

I had friends in college who got suites like that, and I envied the hell out of them!

You'll have privacy when you want it, and when you want company, it'll be there too...

Enjoy yourself, sweetie!

5. I move in on September 6th.
I'm probably just going to get there the day of, since Ottawa is only a 5 hour drive from Toronto. :D

6. Suite? Suite?
Goddamit, when I was in college, I shared a 10' x 12' room with another guy, shared one large bathroom with the entire wing, and shared a single kitchen with an entire floor.

I liked it. I LOVED it.

That's real dorm life. Not this suite bullshit.

7. She's really excited about going off to college...
And here you are, saying mean things about her living arrangements. I'm happy that you loved your dorm life, but let's not make this about that.

This thread is about her, and how excited she is, OK?

10. You could be right...
I feel protective of our young poster, and that's why I reacted the way I did.

11. Good going l.a.s.
If I'd had a deal like that when I was in school I probably would have finished :). I think good living arrangements would probably make the college experience a lot more fun.

14. You're lucky. I spent last year in a dorm that was built in 1951.

And I'm assuming that was also the last time they actually did any maintenance or refurbishing. The place was a shithole.

I shared a bathroom (3 stalls and 2 showers) with about 20 other guys.
