Man watches 84 straight hours of 'Friends' - 'At hour 72 I wanted to die'
Man watches 84 straight hours of 'Friends'

Published: Aug. 6, 2009 at 7:50 PM

LONDON, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- A British fan of the TV comedy "Friends" said he stayed awake for a record-breaking 84-hour marathon, viewing every episode of the show.

Steve Misiura, 31, said has submitted his feat to Guinness World Records, which currently lists 72 hours as the record for unbroken TV viewing, the Daily Mail reported Thursday.

He said he experienced nausea, stomach cramps and hallucinations while watching the adventures of Ross, Rachel and friends.

"I love 'Friends,' but this did indeed hurt. At around 72 hours I wanted to die," Misiura said.

"I started hallucinating," he said. "I was saying to my friend, 'What's happening to this room? The wall keeps disappearing.'

"I was also getting quite delirious and not knowing what I was doing, but it helped that every hour I was updating my photo log," he said.

1. Get somebody who loathes the show to sit in front of that crap... BTW:
The classic series of Doctor Who ran for, what, 693 episodes (at 25 minutes each), comprising 158 stories... of which 108 episodes don't exist in BBC archives but that's beside the point... get somebody who loves FRIENDS to watch all of those WHO episodes... and not the 60 new series eps since those feel like FRIENDS anyway...

2. He lasted a lot longer than I could have done.
I would have wanted to claw my eyes out after about the third episode.

5. That's 3 straight days without sleep
Why would anyone do that to himself? Especially for something as stupid as Friends.

I can honestly say I have never been able to watch Friends for even 5 minutes.

11. My personal best "awake run" is around 40 hours. Can't imagine going longer than that.
Ever. Especially not watching television.

13. I don't know, it seems do-able to me...
In some ways, staying up for 3 straight days watching TV seems do-able... presuming bathroom breaks are allowed every so often, and there's food and drink nearby... wonder if he was allowed to drink Red Bull or anything?

Of course, I say that, and I'm also someone who's ready for a nap at 10:50am. LOL
