When you're at home alone, do you wear
shoes, sneakers, socks, sandals, slippers or go bare foot?

1. Depends on the weather.
Edited on Sun Aug-02-09 09:31 AM by Heidi
We don't usually wear "street shoes" in the house, though. I prefer "barefoot" when in warmer months and Minnetonka mocs when it's cold. :)

Mornin', NJmaverick. :hi:

5. I'm okay!
Thank you for asking. :)

It's been rainy here since early this morning, so I made a big pot of chili for dinner. :yum:

Sending you "get your butt in gear" vibes for your vacation preparations. ;)

7. It all depends on how hot it is and if I have the AC on.
Sometimes a towel, sometimes sheet or blanket, sometimes sweats. I'm not very formal when there is nobody around. Socks? Shoes? Never.

9. I'm barefoot in the summer, socks in the winter.
The dog knows if I put on my sandals/shoes that something is up, either Mom is going outside or going away. He sticks to me like glue then to see if he's going too.

19. Barefoot - I grew up in Florida and we only wore shoes when we had to
One of the tests to see if we were tough was to walk across a sandspur patch barefoot. The trick was to keep our toes curled up so the sandspurs didn't stick in the soft skin under the toes.

We also dared each other to walk across the hot asphalt roads barefoot - if you had not built up thick callouses, you'd get blisters, probably about second degree burns. If you survived that, you just got "better" callouses.

My little sister almost never wore shoes until she started school. We kidded her about her "duck feet" - she wears a size 5EEE shoe!

I still go barefoot as much of the time as I can manage. Always in the house and outdoors unless I have to walk were the blackberry vines grow. Or where the horses might have pooped.

21. sand burrs are EVIL
do you have goat heads too? They are sharp, but not evil - they just sit there, they don't trick you into walking through an area and then suddenly surround you like sand burrs do. You can get out of a patch of goat heads if you backtrack.

goatheads are also known as puncture vine, and torritos, and have kind of pretty little yellow flowers

sand burr is just evil and usually has the words "fucking" or "god damned" in front of it.

24. No, we don't have goats heads - though I have read about them
Downstate, where I grew up, sandspurs were the evil plant. Up here, we have a lot more blackberries, sandspurs, thistles, smilac vine, and more.

20. i intend to always be barefoot now that i have carpet again
i wore slippers or flip flops inside at my old place, but that's because i had hardwood floors and didn't want all the crud on my feet.

my dad implemented a no shoes inside policy many years ago and it stuck. besides, i hate wearing shoes anyway.

22. I go barefoot everywhere
keep various pairs of cheap flip flps in vehicles, in case there is some need. In late summer when the goatheads are ripening, I keep a pair by the back door in case I have to go off-trail. By late fall they have been ground down or eaten by whatever eats them and it is safe again. In winter I wear flip flops until it gets really cold then fuzzy slippers with plastic soles or tevas with socks.

For rough country walking (which I tend to avoid) - the tevas.

I try to avoid shoes. They make me and my feets unhappy.

26. We're in Germany
one must wear house shoes! No street shoes allowed in the house.

I usually go barefoot or wear inside house sandals. Hubby wears socks. The in-laws have a series of shoes for in the house, out on the patio and in the grass. They also have a collection of house shoes for guests in their foyer. Dogs shit on the sidewalk here so I agree with the nutty shoe obsession.

I'm always barefoot. In the winter I just wear socks. I hate having shoes on when I'm at home. :hi:

Edited to add that it doesn't matter if I'm alone or not. Doesn't matter who's here. It's the same.

29. Bare feet when it's hot, socks when it's cooler.
Sometimes in the winter I'll put a second pair of extra warm socks on with slippers.
