and Im sending this up one last time.

Lounge, please tell me I'm not the only one who misses this man, or even rembers him.

Bill Hicks was a philosopher, a poet, maybe even a prophet as well as other "P" words, before a final one "Pancreatic Cancer" robbed us of the revolution in rational thought this STAND-UP COMEDIAN damn near brought us.

please let me know that I'm not the only one here still carrying Bill Hicks' torch.

3. Lots of people here like Bill Hicks
I know who he is, but I've never seen him in action. Is there a video about him that I could get from Netflix?

8. I am one of apparently many DUers who do
I still watch some performance DVD's of his occasionally ( Sane Man, etc)and watch you tube videos of him too. I actually have a couple of friends who knew him before he was (semi) famous. Hicks apparently would get up and do his comedy during breaks of their band in Texas. My friend who was the sound man ( also named Bill) remembers Hicks as a "morose" kind of guy, and says that since he considers himself a pretty funny guy ( he is) , he would try to make Hicks laugh at parties after the gigs. Says he never once was successful .I've seen people here dismiss him , saying he "stole" his style or whatever from Carlin or others, but just like in music, everything came from something before it, and while Hicks obviously has influences , like everyone else, I think he was a true comic genius. I can only imagine how savagely funny he would have been during the Bush years. A horrible personal tragedy for him and his family; dying of cancer at 32, but also a tragedy and loss for a country that sure would have benefited from his still being around. Of course on the other hand, as he pointed out in his brilliant "positive drug story" : "there is no such thing as death, and we are only a dream".

11. Leary stole from him,
and so did Bill Maher.

There's a great biography of Bill Hicks, called "American Scream." Everyone who ever saw or heard Hicks will love this book.

I made a donation to the wildlife charity established in his memory, and got a beautiful handwritten thank-you note from his mother. It just broke my heart.

He was a holy man, plain and simple. And I miss him so much ...................................

13. I never saw or heard of him while he was alive. I'd definitely rent a video of his
work these days because he has so many fans on DU.
