Check in if you don't/can't drink.
I'm underage, so of course I'm not really supposed to be drinking. Most of my friends drink, though, but I've never been into it at all. I've had a glass of wine with dinner a few times (in Canada, it's not illegal to drink underage in your own house supervised by parents), but not often and I've never had really more than one drink at a time.

And now, because of a new anxiety medication I just started, I can't drink. I was joking with one of my friends that it's funny, because I am exceptionally boring in that regard and never drink anyway. :P

I have nothing against alcohol, personally. I just think I'm the kind of person who's not into substances.

1. I don't drink. I've never been interested and I have no idea why.
There are a lot of alcoholics in my Dad's family , so that may be a reason.

6. My dear lightningandsnow...
I can drink, but rarely do so...

A glass or two of wine now and then is enough...

I enjoy a little buzz, but that's it ...

I'm glad you won't miss it, sweetie!

Here's to your feeling much happier and very soon!

8. I would love to be able to drink....
I drank with no problem when I was younger, but
when I hit my 40's it was ALL OVER.

Now it just makes me sick. Even one drink makes
me sick or sleepy our both.

I INSISTED on having a "Hurricane" when we were in
New Orleans last week, and sure enough, later that
night, I was up, throwing my voodoo.

15. I went for years not liking the drinks my alcoholic friend in college tried on
me so I would drink with him. Don't like beer, or wine, or champaine, or the harder stuff straight. Then the last gf introduced me to liquers, and I found the perfectly tasty mix...

12. I have never really been that much into it.
Since I had brain surgery in January and I'm still on anti-seizure meds, it's probably not a good idea anyway. Plus my husband is a nasty alcoholic.

If I ever can drink again, I may enjoy an occasional dry Manhattan up with a twist of lemon in memory of my mother, but not much else.

I finally realized why I drank, thought it was silly and just quit. Don't miss it at all.
I was a beer drinker and an ice cold one after a workout was a treat. Nut it was always an ice cold 12 or 16.......

18. 17-21 were hazy years for me.
Booze and pot all the time but as I got older I lost interest. I never liked booze with meals but I will still have a an occasionally beer at a BBQ. I just don't generally care for it anymore. I have friends who get drunk every weekend but I rarely bar-hop with them. I nurse one beer and I always end up being the DD. Plus picking up ladies at a bar is virtually impossible when you don't offer to buy drinks.

As someone whose been through the rinse cycle more than once, let me tell you something. You're not really missing anything. ;-)

22. I know that no one will believe me.
but I use alcohol medicinally. A Tbsp or two is enough to relax muscles and/or put me out for the night. More than that and my sinuses don't like me anymore.

23. I can, but don't
Apparently, I'm too young.

When I was 7 or so, my parents were having a party for a large group of friends. I asked what all this weird stuff
was they were drinking. My dad said, well this was wine, this was whiskey, this was beer, etc etc. I took a tiny
sip of each one and was horrified. They all tasted like medicine or paint thinner or a combination of both. I went
back to my ginger ale. My dad explained that they were grown-up drinks, and that when I was old enough, I would
like them, too.

Well, now, 50 years later, I still can't stand the taste of any of them, as I must still be too young to appreciate
them. Since I see no compelling to drink the stuff to be cool socially, I just leave it be.

I view alcohol sort of the way I view religion. It would never occur to me to forbid anyone else from indulging, but
I would equally hope that no one would try to force their preferences on me, either.

24. interesting question
I used to drink alcohol(mojitos and margaritas) occasionally and enjoyed it. Now, even if I have 1 drink (any- beer, wine, liquor) I get a migraine. I do miss it some. I would smoke marijuana occasionally but I am subject to drug testing for my job, so I don't.

Not drinking does not necessarily equate to boring: I know drinkers who are bores.

25. For a while I drank a lot, gave it up and I am glad I did
My parents are alcoholics. They do not go one day without drinking. What is horrible is that they can get falling down stinking drunk and not have hangovers the next day so it is easy for them to hide their drinking from most people.

When my Dad was put in the hospital for blood clots, he would not tell the doctor he drank and went into DTs and convulsion. Scary, scary stuff since one of the grandkids was in the room with him and did not know what was happening.

I drank heavily for a while during college, then one day just quit. I think I could see going the way my parents did. I smoked pot for a lot of years, but quit that. Now I don't use anything other than the drugs for medical conditions and those to manage my pain.

I don't like being around drunks, but if people want to drink, that is their business. I just wish they would do it in private and not where they might endanger others. And I pretty much feel that way about all recreational drugs - do whatever in private, just don't hurt others while you are indulging.
