2. One last kick
I'm surprised there aren't any jazz fans who have an opinion on this.

8. I'm not a big fan of jazz vocals.
Except for Ella and Sarah, of course.

4. here's mine
Piano: Keith Nichols, John Sheridan or Ray Skjelbred
Bass: Juhasz Zoltan (Hot Jazz Band of Hungary)
Drums: hmmmmm....
Clarinet: Evan Christopher or Fodor Laszlo (Hungary too)
Trumpet: Jon-Erik Kellso or Jim Cullum
Trombone: Dan Barrett

We might add a banjo -- that would be my old friend Scott Anthony.

We might add a tuba: Andy Stein

Maybe a bass sax: Vince Giordano

You see, there is jazz and there is jass. Jazz didn't start with Dizzy Gillespie.

6. PLEASE TELL ME that you have heard "Trio Beyond: Saudades."
"The trio was formed by drummer Jack DeJohnette and guitarist John Scofield, after conversations between the pair about how important Tony Williams was for them in that he provided musical influence as drummer and bandleader. Organist Larry Goldings, another admirer of Williams' uncanny sense of time and rhythmic pulse, was invited to join Scofield and DeJohnette to form the trio that pays tribute to The Tony Williams Lifetime band of the 1970s.

The trio have performed many concerts since their formation. A concert from the Queen Elizabeth Hall at the 2004 London Jazz Festival was released in 2006 on ECM. The double disc album was named Saudades."

10. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That album is simply fantastic! I am biased toward organ/guitar/drums trios (and quartets with a tenor sax added,) but Trio Beyond simply kicks all kinds of ass!
