It added to the story. I cared more for Jack and Ianto more because of their interaction.

1. TV series might be tough any time soon, but
i think it could certainly happen in a movie or mini-series. (And, i take it you're not counting a "reality" show like Queer Eye for the Straight Guy?)

However, I think it will not be a question that needs asking in 20 years, as younger people today are much more open-minded on it.

2. Unfortunately, the advertisers
probably wouldn't approve. not good for ratings blah blah blah - what would the evangelicals say? can't have that on primetime teevee. no-sir-eee maybe a series that was on HBO or Sundance or a PBS channel could do it. We're so puritanical doncha know?

5. You don't know her. She isn't even in the business.

Suffice it to say that she possesses enough soul power to light up a good-sized city. They are still scraping bits and pieces of me off the back wall of the hotel ballroom where I heard her present, over two months ago... :wow:

edit: spelling, timing

6. John Barrowman lost out on a part on Will and Grace because he "wasn't gay enough."

American TV people are SO stupid. But I have never watched Will and Grace, and I love Torchwood, so it was my gain and their loss.

7. My take
I think he looks too much like Tom Cruise, so he found his niche in the UK.

I agree, our gain!

:hi:

9. In Jack's WHO episodes, he was as much stereotyped as a bi guy COULD get...
I grew to loathe it fairly quickly... Jack is not how all bisexual people act.

Though if American producers could have me put the situational/soap drama "The Unit" (CBS) over RTD's tedious trifles, they aren't all so bad...

W & G was fairly lamentable too...

8. If Blake and Avon were gay, it wouldn't faze me, nor do I care about peoples' personal lives
If made today, the new show would spend more time on personal lives than SITUATIONAL drama.

One requires IQ and the other requires EQ.

The trouble with torchwood is that, like Russell's vision for "Doctor Who", is that maudlin soap opera "drama" takes place over all else. He makes soap operas, not science fiction. Well, good science fiction...
