The new cheap laptops: good deals or cheap electronic ka-ka?
I'm seeing alot of laptops for under $500 these days. I've never felt the need to have one, but sometimes I think it would be nice to be able to compute somewhere besides this little office. Anyone bought one yet, or know someone who has?

1. Well I have helped people who have purchased
laptops with 1 gig of shared (with the video) memory and Vista. They ran like complete crap.

2. One gig of memory with Vista?
Shared or not, I would imagine it would run like crap! Best Buy has one advertised in their Sunday circular for $399 with 4GB of memory. The cynic in me says that's a bait and switch ploy, but I've seen these "mini" laptops advertised in lots of places lately.
