2. as a passenger, i prefer a dc-10.
i like the two seats aisle/window on the sides of the coach cabin...and on a couple different occasions, i was on dc-10 red-eye flights where there weren't many people, and i was able to put up the armrests, and stretch out across all 5 seats in the center section.

3. The L-1011 was actually a better airplane, although the DC-10 was more popular.
The L-1011 was over-engineered, and therefore more expensive. But the redundancies in its hydraulic system probably would have prevented the accidents that took down the DC-10s in Chicago and later near Sioux City.

5. The DC-10 was a snake-bit aircraft.
It could not take the shortcuts and abuse that some airlines
put upon them.
Laker Airways, run by Sir Freddie Laker, used the DC-10
and they didn't have any problems because the airline
followed the manufacturer's instructions to the letter.

6. DC-10
my favorite was L-1011
but nothing gave me 'goosebumps' as listening and watching a DC-10 take off
:hi: :woohoo:

7. DC-10 tail engine is a straight pipe (the NWA).
The Lockheed L-1011 Tri-Star tail engine is an S-duct (the ATA). I'm partial to Lockheed products.
