2. is that the NC ZOO?
I thought it looked familiar - I KNEW it was when I saw the flamingos - and the birds and the giraffes and . . .

I miss North Carolina.

7. I think Charles confused his ocelot and cougar
Both are cats you don't want to mess with.

The photos are great. Looks like you and your family had a great time at the zoo. It's been ages since I've been to one.

9. The cat in pictures # 4 and 5 is a puma, not an ocelot.
Also, the cat in the pictures right after the owl is an ocelot, not a puma.

I should know.

10. We went to the zoo today as well
Edited on Sat Jul-25-09 08:05 PM by Meshuga
Except it was the National Zoo in DC. The cheetahs gave us a show by being active and hanging closer. They usually hide somewhere when it is hot outside (like it was today).

I usually skip the Gorillas because they look so depressed but today I am glad I didn't skip it since I got to see the little baby gorilla. The Gorilla has a new baby so that was great to see as they enjoyed some frozen fruit.

However, the highlight today were the Meerkats. They are so damn adorable.

Those are some cool frogs, btw.

12. Interesting perspective
Hi,
I went to a really nice zoo a while ago. I love the gorillas, at least at this zoo they gave them things to do and they would watch the people through these like bubble windows you could get right next to them. Plus the big silverback would do the whole territorial thing.

The poor polar bear was psychotic and just kept doing the same exact thing over and over, same with a lot of the cats, I couldn't watch them. The gorillas and the orangutans though had all kinds of stuff in their enclosures and were really active. I know this is not the case in every zoo. I would think they would have plenty of stimulation for the gorillas at the national zoo, no?

Thanks for the pictures Charles.

Peace

But those are some great pictures!
