1. Actually they already made a sequel to Tron... in the format that most made sense to do so.
Tron 2.0 was a rather awesome game. :)

2. They've been talking about Tron 2 for 20 years.
I actually hope they do make it, hoping against hope they don't fuck it up.

Not sure what Power of the Dark Crystal is though, so I will google it.

5. Every film not based on an original screenplay is a ripoff
And sequels have been around for centuries.

7. I rather liked Tron.
Of course it was rather cheesy. But the concept was great. Maybe this time they'll do it right.

10. I read an article once about how Hollywood has priced itself out of creative movies.
With huge budgets, huge special effects, over-paid actors and actresses, and the price of a movie ticket being ridiculously high, the whole process is tremendously expensive for everyone. The studios aren't going to shell out the cash to take a risk, and movie goers aren't going to take a risk either. That's why there are so many formulaic movies, well known stories, and sequels made anymore. The customers feel safe knowing what they are going to get, and the studios know they are a safe investment.

It's laziness all around really.

14. I don't know...
Neither of those movies mentioned strike me as anywhere near "risk-free."

12. Sequels don't automatically mean 'lack of creativity.' Lack of creative people to do them does.
William Shakespeare loved sequels!

Henry IV, Part I.
Henry IV, Part II.
The Merry Wives Of Windsor (This time...Falstaff is in LOVE!)
Henry V.
Henry VI, Part I.
Henry VI, Part II.
Henry VI, Part III.
Richard III.

All part of the same chronicle of English monarchical history.

16. What I hate is missing the original
Apollo I through XII for example. I totally missed The Fantastic I, II and III. The Magnificent I through VI. And can you believe that I've never seen a Fahrenheit film and there's been four-hundred and fifty of them!
