Seattle/Northwest DUers: Do you remember "Almost Live!"?
A favorite feature of mine:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRz6IP9k400

I think on average, the program was better than SNL.

1. Loved that show!
Especially all their riffs on Ballard and Kent.

BTW. Nancy Guppy's dad was one of my profs in college. Loved her; wasn't so very fond of him.

2. I lived in Kent for nearly 12 years
So "COPS: In Kent" was a favorite skit, and true to life! I stil use the term "Kentification" (Definition: Fortifying the local water supply with Budweiser)

I think it was a great primer for life in the Pacific Northwest. A newcomer could learn a lot about the region, lol.

3. Absolutely! To this day, whenever I drive through Ballard,
I always check to make sure my seatbelt isn't hanging out the door, and my blinker isn't on when I have no intention of turning!

And to me, Kent always means "Bumper Bangs".

7. Bill Nye is one of the good guys
Great science program he does for kids - the rest of the country has no idea where he started. :D

I met him when I worked at the Tukwila Barnes & Noble. He was promoting his latest science book for kids, and I helped set him up. Nice guy, kind of shy, actually.

10. They still air the reruns after SNL every Saturday
Most of it's still funny, as dated as it is, which is more than I could say about the SNL reruns from the same era.

11. So true
I don't live up there anymore, or I would still watch the reruns. YouTube gives me a decent fix though.

13. Oh I don't know, the early 90s of SNL were great.
It wasn't until 1997 they went downhill fast.

14. Yes
At Greg Norman's (the pro golfer) house in FLA. Clinton had to have knee surgery and was on crutches for a while.

As for the quality of Almost Live vs SNL, I am mainly referring to the post-Hartman/Myers era of the mid-90's onward. Plus, being only 30 minutes long, it didn't peter out with bad skits at the end like even the best SNL's did.

16. "She's the worst girlfriend in the world
A psycho bitch from Hell, yeah, that's the girl..."

I LOVE Almost Live! My husband and I were the last two people seated for their last show, and we miss it still. However, skits like "Ballard Driving School" and "High-Fivin' White Guys" live on!

:woohoo:
