13. I prefer Jeeps to Hummers...

and Jeeps are definitely more affordable. Not much better than a Hummer on gas (I average 19-20 mpg in my Liberty).

The problem with the Hummer is that while it's a great off road vehicle, most purchasers don't even take the vehicle off the road. They replace the standard wheels with some "bling bling" ones and skinny tyres - most not suitable for off-roading.

The same goes for Jeep too, but their fuel economy is only slightly better. My only beef is that Jeep manufacture two wheel drive vehicles - effectively making the vehicle more of a "looker" or a "grocery getter" than a true off-road vehicle. With some decent tyres (the factory ones aren't that good for off road) my Liberty could get me nearly anywhere - with a few extra modifications it'll handle really tough trails. For the record, yes my Jeep does go off road reguarly, as we visit family and friends whose driveways are nothing more than just a trail, not even gravel... so when it rains forget visting them in a regular car: you need 4wd and the extra clearance to deal with the mud, ruts and rocks, and yes they own pickup trucks and Jeeps.

What's not to like about them? At certain times of the year my in-laws will put out hummingbird feeders and watch them feed.
