Remember last week, when I posted about having been turned down for a Discover card after I filled out and returned an unsolicited application they sent me marked PRE-APPROVED? Seems the good folks at Discover didn't appreciate that I had found it necessary to file for bankruptcy in 1996.

Well, guess what I got in the mail today? ANOTHER "PRE-APPROVED" APPLICATION FROM THOSE MOTHERFUCKERS!!! :grr:

Does anybody know who I'd complain to about this? All I really want is to be taken off their mailing list.

2. complete the application

with nonsense (and send them an expired pizza coupon). It costs them money everytime somone opens a useless envelope. Plus it will eventually piss them off sufficiently to have them stop.

3. If they include a postage paid return envelope, write them back

and REALLY VENT. Also, sent them back ALL of the junk mail they sent you, tell them to REMOVE you from their mailing list and also to throw away their junk mail themselves, as the landfill where you live is getting full. Why should you subsidize their bulk mailing rate AND have to pay taxes to city/county government for hauling away what probably amounts to thousands of tons of junk mail?

Write them, give them both barrels, vent on every scrap of paper they send you and mail it all back in their envelope.

Eventually, you will see a serious reduction in the amount of junk mail in your snail mail box.

4. The "application" was pre-approved." Not your acceptance.

There's a difference between a "pre-approved credit card" and a "pre-approved application." The later means absolutely nothing.

The point is that they already turned me down. So why do they continue to send me applications for the same type of card for which they've already rejected me? That's what has me pissed off.

6. Contact you State Attorney General's Office

Ask for info about the responsibilities for "pre-approved" offers and how long bankruptcy info is to remain on your credit report.
