Derek Jeter is overrated

Once again we are treated to another All Star Tuesday with the national (i.e. Eastern and Los Angeles) sportswriters fawning all over Star Child, the overrated Yankee shortstop.

Yes, Mr. Jeter is a good, above average shortstop, but the way the national pencil pushers talk about him you'd think he was Honus Wagner or Ozzie Smith.

But that's the way it works when you wear Yankee pinstripes. Good players are elevated to inevitable Hall of Fame Status. Average players are considered good, and lousy players are considered underrated by the baseball pundits at ESPN.

He's a career avg .300+ hitter, which is good. He's just not a real power hitter, so he doesn't go yard all that often.

Jeter has 4, I believe and has hit over 300 in WS play. Plus, he has 3 gold gloves and has often been a clutch performer in all those World Series games.
