Any Boston Terrier owners here?
My wife and I are thinking of rescuing a Boston, and we're looking for some input on their temperment, health issues, etc...

We've done a ton of research, but are looking for some feedback from actual Boston owners...

Thanks!

2. owner of a terrier
I love Boston terriers (but I don't own one.) I do have a Jack Russell terrier and one of the FEW terrier breeds she gets along with are Bostons. They seem like a good, friendly dog. My Jack doesn't even like other Jacks! But she has a couple Boston terrier friends : )

6. I have a Jack now
What a great breed...endlessly entertaining. They communicate in every way but verbally!

3. i have a boston
a sweet breed.
my observations:

very intelligent, maybe too much so!
will have you in stitches every night with silly play behavior antics
pretty good with kids, although not the very best.
indoor-kept bostons tend to smell clean, faintly like some kind of tea
will gladly learn any trick/behavior for a morsel of sweet sweet food!

sheds EVERYWHERE
kinda willful
short muzzle leads to breathing problems.
does not do well in temperature extremes.

I've owned both dogs and cats at various times all my life. I can easily say that I've never bonded with any of my other pets nearly as deeply as with this here boston. she can read my mood so quickly and accurately, it's kinda eerie. this dog is family.

if you have time to spend with your pet, i could heartily recommend a boston, even more so as a rescue, obviously.
but if you want the kind of pet situation where you see it briefly in the AM, crate it for ~10 hours alone while yer at work, then see it a few hours in the eve. before crating it again for the night, then I would recommend something else.

please feel free to PM me with any boston-related questions. :)

if my dog could vote, I think she'd have been a dean supporter.
Jimmy Dean, that is! (sausage)

4. Lucy is her name.
We got her at the shelter nearly five years ago. Vet thought she was around two then. Greatest dog I've ever had!

No health problems. Just Visine once in a while. Great with kids. She would play all day if she could, but is calm when we are home alone. She is always wanting to please and is a very fast learner.

We have a dalmation that she irritates to death, but without her antagonizing him I think we would have lost him by now. He's eleven.

I say go for it!

5. MY last dog was a Boston
she was a sweetie. She was intelligent, loving and faithful. Warning, they tend to choose a favorite human and that lucky person gets the bulk of her love. Great dogs....I would rescue her today!

I now have a Jack Russell...another great breed!
