My newest poem: "Dreams"
Dreams are for the young
Which I no longer am
I approach the end
Knowing my time is past

So why is it they haunt me?
I cannot turn away
There is no switch for on/off
No way to make them gone

But still
The baby avocado
Grows upon my kitchen
Window sill

9. Dear CP, I really liked it. Do you think you can write one for the
older folks on here? Hmmm, along the lines we can dream too?

You are so sweet

12. I intended this one for the older folks...
Since I am old too...

I really felt down when I wrote it. I'm not sure I could do a positive one...

Maybe someday.

When/if I'm in a better mood...

Thank you, sweetie...

8. My dear Shine!
Funny thing, I wasn't in a sweet mood when I wrote it...

I was really feeling my age, and how much time I have left and all that...

And then I spotted the plant.

A dream from which there is no waking...

Thanks, sweetie!

:loveya:

15. Makes me sad.
Something once enjoyed becoming something to dread.

Seems not necessary, no need for such a situation.

Would but that we could embrace each new day, with no fear of some dreadful end.

Just as a child, or a sapling, embraces a sun drenched morning without a thought of tomorrow...

17. My dear Skip Intro...
I'm sorry it made you sad. I was sad when I wrote it...

But I did feel hopeful when I looked at my plant...for that is my avocado in my kitchen window sill...

I do find, as I get older, that the end of my life is on my mind more than it used to be.

Today, I decided to express it in this poem...

19. Well...
I kind of felt that sadness coming through, and I can relate - sometimes it seems the months pass like days, but I'm glad the vision of the new plant rejuvenated you. I hate to think of anyone spending any of his or her time here worried about when it might end, mainly because I hate to think of myself being that way. And I think no age beyond fascination and wonder. So far...

21. I'm not worried about dying, per se...
I just wish I had more time to do the things I've discovered I want to do...

I agree too...every age has its wonder and fascination...

I would do the unrecommend different, so that when it got to or below "0", it would look just like a thread that had not been recommended at all.

Edited to add:

The recs are meaningless here, anyhow...

...but it is not nice!

31. I once wrote a poem about one of my girlfriends, who was a witch...
...I found out she was a witch one day because we were driving to the beach and I looked over at her and she smiled at me and I immediately turned into a motel.
