Firecracker Chocolate Bar
Edited on Fri Jul-10-09 10:06 PM by fishwax

I found this at the store today, and it sounded too interesting not to try. It's a dark chocolate bar with chipotle, salt, and popping candy (like pop rocks). Sounds a bit weird, but it's tasty--and addictive. :)

Had any good chocolate lately?

2. YES.
I just had one that has chilies (chipotle, and another kind I can't remember) w/ cherries in dark chocolate.

OMG. Chilies + chocolate? Who freaking KNEW that was so awesome? The sweet cherries rounded it and and the combination is damned near perfect.

7. I've had the chile kind and the kind with curry in em
pretty intriguing. Usually buy the special kinds for Valentine's Day.

9. Curry?
That doesn't sound good at all, but then ... one w/ hot peppers didn't initially either.

If you ever find one w/ the peppers and the cherries I recommend trying one. A perfect blend of bitter (dark chocolate), sweet (cherries) and heat (the peppers). Very well balanced.

ya know, I think I did try the cherry-pepper one- I seem to remember that it was a bit hot for me. (I'm a bit of a heat weenie...)

11. sounds good -- normally I'm not big on cherries, but with the chillies to balance out
I think that'd be tasty. I'll have to look for it :)

15. You can't really taste the cherries -
at least not strongly. They just add a burst of sweetness. They are very small pieces encased in the hard chocolate - so you sometimes get a bite that has something slightly chewy and sweet.

This is the kind I got, and the one I recommend:

6. I had some wonderful ganache type icing on some birthday cupcakes!

And I bought some good (and politically good fair trade) chocolate at our local coop!

How are ya? What sports are intriguing you this summer? :hi:

13. mmm ... cupcakes
I just recently found a local bakery that makes unbelievable cupcakes. I hadn't had one in years :)

How are ya? What sports are intriguing you this summer? :hi:

I'm good--things have been busy here this summer, but I've managed to follow a bit of sport--Are you a tennis fan? The final weekend of Wimbledon was great! Unbelievable tennis in the men's final :) Now I'm looking forward to the British Open ... and to football season, of course :D

How are you doing? :hi:

17. I watched a fair amount of Wimbledon since my kid was out of school
and I tend to work less in the summer. I missed the finals, though - I am kind of tired of Serena vs Venus (I really want to see some other folks step up - although Dementieva certainly gave it a shot!) and I had other things I had to do that day, so I missed the men's final, too. :(

I love watching golf at times (men's majors and LPGA) and the BO is fun due to all the pot bunkers and shaggy courses!

It's been a nice summer so far, not too hot, some camps for the kiddo, plus he plans to take a rowing class. We are big swimmers and go to the pool, lake and wave pool quite a bit. We joined a local food club and have been getting some great local produce!

:hi:

14. I love the chocolate bars with chili
If I see that one I'll have to give it a try.
Right now I have some bars from Ikea. They're pretty crappy chocolate, but they were cheap.
I really like the Dagoba Xocolatl with chili's and cocoa nibs
