I can't stand that spoiled, pampered puke....

Another reason to never watch any football connected TV other than an actual game.

Stay home, Brett.

1. He's not really pampered considering he's been sacked
about 440 times and he's not really spoiled considering he is the all time leader in touchdowns, yards, and completions.

3. You can call him a lot of things
but I don't know if I would describe him as spoiled or pampered. The guy holds the NFL record for consecutive starts. That includes playing through a broken thumb and the death of his father.

He may be making a fool of himself now, by not being able to know when it's time to call it quits, but he certainly was on tough SOB.

4. Well, since he's essentially washed-up and at the end of
his career, it only makes sense that the Vikings will sign him. He'll make the perfect QB for the team that will be moving in 2012. Washed up and at the end of their time in the Twin Cities.

Farve ? Oh, he'll blow his bicep out about 10 long intercepted passes into the season and that'll be that.

Sorry if I sound negative. But, this is the losing team that wants me to pay for their freaking stadium. LA Vikings, here you come!

5. They are moving? I though Minnesota was getting a new Stadium
Just shows how much out of touch I am.

However if any team moves to LA they should play at USC Stadium. That is one cool stadium but since it has a lack of any club seats, luxury boxes, and other revenue generating amenities it will not be used.

6. There's not going to be any publically funded stadium
for the Vikings in Minnesota. Not now. The mood to spend a billion dollars for such a thing has passed. The Twins got a new ballpark. The Gophers got a new stadium. The Vikings whined their way right out of theirs, wanting to build this whole sports complex in a suburb.

Folks basically have said no. And now, with the economy screwed, introducing such public funding is likely to send people out with pitchforks and torches. There's not a single politician in the state stupid enough to propose such a thing, and the owners of the Vikes don't want to spend their own money.

So, the Vikes contract with the Metrodome ends in 2011. That's it. The city wants to tear it down...since the property might well have other uses.

Bye, Bye Vikes. Now, the Vikings seem to think that hiring Brett Farve will spark attendance. Trouble is, it's getting harder and harder to afford Vikings tickets. Parking is horrendously expensive, too. Farve just ain't the draw he once was.

Oh, well...I don't follow football anyhow.

14. Yes, and so...?
Who cares? Should I be paying to subsidize them and a new stadium? I guess not.

16. You've been calling them a 'losing' team through out this thread
Edited on Fri Jul-10-09 03:47 PM by JonLP24
Just wanted to point out that they are Division Champions.

As far as your questions I haven't suggested that you should care or pay for them.

10. One thing I know about the Vikings
They consistently do well in attendance. Last year they had between 62,000-64,000 in attendance for a stadium that seats 64,111 for football. I think the reasoning for Favre and I have yet to see evidence he is going to play for the Vikings is they are a Division Champion football team and they may think they need an experience quarterback to take them deep in the playoffs. Remember Favre improved the Jets to from a 4-12 team to a 9-7 team in the toughest division in football.

Besides Adrian Peterson is one hell of a draw even for me as a Cardinal's fan.

13. Yes, they do, and that 60+ thousand wants the rest of the
3 million in the Metro area to finance their addiction. No thanks. No public funds for private sports teams. Ever! It benefits only those who have enough income to pay for those expensive tickets, and the rest of the population subsidized that small group.

Screw that! If it's such a business opportunity, let them finance the crap themselves.

15. Just responding to the 'spark attendence' line
For a team that has done well in attendance consistently year in and year out.

Not trying to be an advocate for a publicly funded stadium one way or the other but they can generate revenue for the state.

17. Cool. Then the Vikings must be making enough money to fund
their own new stadium. I'm all for it. I still won't go, but I won't have to pay for it, at least.

In the NFL, 10-6 is a losing season, as you well know. Division Champ is thin gruel...

11. Entirely possible.
He's just window-dressing anyhow. His last season playing was something less than stellar.

I give him 10 long passes before he leaves the field clutching his arm.
