I guess the cookies weren't enough
Edited on Tue Jun-30-09 08:54 AM by Symarip
Looks like I'm most likely going to be losing my job. Unbeknownst to the assclowns I work for, I've already accepted a position doing similar work, for more money and benefits, with a direct competitor. I almost want to send my boss an email saying, 'don't hate the player, hate the game.' I'm actually kind of giddy - I can't wait to be pulled in the office for the sit down. I wonder how many yellow pads and pens I can steal before I get the axe.

1. Congratulations on the new job
I'm glad you were able to avoid unemployment. Maybe your new boss will like cookies, too.

2. Wait it out and take the severance pay!!!
If they find out you've got another gig, they're likely to nix the severance.

4. Ha!
I'm a contractor. They don't even have to give me notice. I could show up one day and have all my shit packed for me, and that'd be it.

7. Ah. Yeah, that's how I work too.
I spent all day yesterday mediating between the company and one of the other contractors over a pay dispute. On the plus side, I benefited from the outcome, but if it fell through the project would have certainly failed (meaning nothing for me out of it). NO BILLABLE HOURS! FUCK!

9. I know about Crystal City -
Edited on Tue Jun-30-09 11:21 AM by Tangerine LaBamba
the story is that, a long time ago, before the buildings were all there, the sand on the banks of the Potomac made the best crystal.

Hence, the name.

Actually, it's more like a big neighborhood, or a small suburb - not a city at all. In fact, I think it's just a part of Arlington, come to think of it................

In fact, I don't think I've even laid eyes on it in 3 months.
