Pain is such an interesting thing
No matter whether it is chronic or short'n'sweet, it still leaves one with only the thought "STOP!!!" for the duration of the painful period.

And then there's our desire to talk about it, tell everyone within earshot of our latest bout with conscious-thought-obliterating pain. Such as my latest experience with it this evening.

My cat likes to sit out on the concrete balcony at night now. I guess he likes the nighttime heat as much as I do. :o Anyway, as I sat there petting him, I thought I should take the garbage out. As I had no shoes on, the house-slippers would do for that short trip to the dumpster in the back. So, I get up and manage to head inside, a little too much to the left, to firmly plant my left foot and toes into the immovable door-frame, or immovable to your average human body. I'm not too sure of the details after this as I stumbled inside and tried to keep my agony to myself (it was 2 ayem, after-all.) As noted above, those thoughts were pretty much "stop" "ow" and so on. I have done this to those minor toes in the past, too, with the same results, as you can imagine. I think this time it was the littlest of the toes, so the second one in may have been spared a repeat that kind of damage.

I have no idea if anything is broken, nor does it really matter. Being out of the kind of job that could pay for this kind of thing, whether through insurance or just a good paycheck, I do know that immobilizing is the only thing that would be done anyway, other than a prescription to some good painkillers. I have all I need of those, leftover from dental de- and re-construction ;)

I'll see how this is tomorrow and post an update. Once I wake up from the percocet :P
