microsoft comp question.

I received a questionable type of email today. I am a shade on the paranoid side, so I haven't done anything with it. The email does not have an attachment, but it does have a link. The email is from: [e-mail] which seems fairly legit to me. The email is about a new security patch. The link in the text of the email is hostlog.biz/mstasks.exe at the begining of the link is the usual http www thing. The link is the part that concerned me. Aren't there some worms, or viruses that can get to your comp through links or hyperlinks?? Does anyone know if this hostlog website is a legit microsoft one, or is it something else. I pretty much plan on deleting this email, but mostly I was curious if it is a bad one. I am not a huge computer person, and many of you seem to know a lot about this stuff. 1. DON'T click on the link.

Always use the Windows Update site. The e-mail you got is a known exploit.

2. Yes that is a virus.

That is one of the false from addresses virus use to sound offical.
