Best fictionalized version of a celebrity playing him/herself (excluding cameos)
I don't mean like a brief single scene with a celebrity in a TV show or movie. I mean either a major or recurring character where it is a celebrity who is playing him or herself and contributes to the actual story.

I think arguably the best fictionalized celebrity would have to be Larry David on "Curb Your Enthusiasm." Although I also like Adam West in "Family Guy" and Timothy Stack (Parker Lewis, Son of the Beach) on "My Name is Earl".

That was a distinctly weird but strangely wonderful movie.

3. Neil Patrick Harris in 'Harold and Kumar'
Although he made it extremely clear that he was not playing "himself."

4. While not STRICTLY meeting the definition, DeVito in "Man On The Moon" was good.
The irony is that he plays Andy Kaufman's manager and his "cameo" is actually the clip from Taxi.

5. And Norm McDonald played Michael Richards....
....not sure why they didn't just try to get Michael Richards to play Michael Richards.

Come to think of it, John Neville makes this qualify as an answer to the other thread, too.
