A new poem from me..."Grief"
The clock ticks
The light dims
Someone comes home
I don’t know who

It’s late afternoon
But it could be anytime
Dinner’s cooking downstairs
Did I do that?
I don’t remember

I’m hollow inside
The landscape is altered
By his absence

I drift here

Illness coming on
I’m disoriented
My skin shrivels
Deep breaths hurt
I cannot walk
Or cry

I think most of us have dealt with grief at one point or another in our lives. I have a few times, but not as much as some have.

For some reason, this poem seems to speak to me, even though it's been a few years since someone close to me has passed.

Thank you for sharing this.

2. My dear UrbScotty...
I've dealt with it too, but not as much as some either...

This just struck me the other day, and I ran with it.

I hasten to add that I'm not in a depressed state; this poem is not about me...

Thank you, sweetie...

Portends of sweet times and loss to come...bitter sweet and necessary.

12. Your work is getting so good. I love the way this illustrates the utterly draining nature
of grief. When one is grieving, the everyday is beyond tedious.

19. My dear PBS Poll-435...
I hadn't even been consciously aware that I'd done that transition...

Isn't it funny how you can write something, and not see or understand what you did?

Thank you for illuminating that for me! And, of course, for your praise...

20. My dear 6000eliot...
I was the speaker...

I was having a sad day, missing a friend. I had these strange feelings, and decided to write them down, and see where they led me...

I hope you enjoyed this...

23. My dear Dystopian...
A friend once told me, long ago, that the more personal the work is, the more universal it is.

Perhaps I have succeeded at that...

I have to share. If I didn't get these words out, I would just explode...

I'm so pleased my little work spoke to you...

Thank you!

No, no...nothing like that! My husband and I are really good...

I was a little down, and decided to see where it would take me poetically...

And this was the result.

Hi Peggy,
Thanks for sharing this with us all. After reading everyone's comments I see that I had a totally different interpretation/understanding of it, most likely from issues going on with my own life.

Peace
