OTC drug question
I've always used Goody Powders and really never take any other stuff.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goody%27s_Powder
Goody's Powder is an over-the-counter pain reliever, in powder form, marketed and sold by GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals. Goody's contains aspirin, caffeine, and acetaminophen, the same formula as Excedrin.

My last roadtrip someone told me that since I drink so much I should lay off the Goody Powders. On roadtrips I generally take for the caffeine hit.

Well, that was 3-4 weeks ago and I just stopped. It really was no big deal. I don't take them every day or anything.

About a week ago I did something to my wrist where it freaking killed me to move it. Instead of reactively taking a Goody's I went to store for more mainstream fixes. Everything I saw was an NSAID, whatever the hell that is.

Alls I know is with the drug commercials that have death as a side effect, I hear NSAID mentioned often. I just bought some Goody's and went my way. All better now.

I just wonder why would drinking beer effect what pain reliever to take and why does the term NSAID scare me?

Any tips?

:hi:

1. Try BC powders.
They are aspirin only and I swear by them.

Goodies have acetominophen, which is not recommended if you drink more than a couple alcoholic drinks a day.

4. NSAID's are non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such
as Advil/naprocin and ibuprofen.

Tylenol has no effect on me, so I don't use it. Though for headaches, excedrin (w/caffeine) works like a charm!

10. yes, it is the main ingredient in Tylenol.
Very bad for the liver, hence the alcohol warning.

BC powders are great; they got me through college:toast:

5. Exactly. And combined, the damage is worse, from what I've heard.
I don't take tylenol at all- because I'm not giving up my cocktails and other adult beverages.

8. NSAID=Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug.
NSAIDs can wreck your kidneys. Tylenol/acetaminophen can kill your liver, especially if you drink alcohol a lot. Both aspirin and acetaminophen are NSAIDs. So if you have to take something take it with a ton of water to save your kidneys and take the smallest dose you can. We use aspirin, as I have seen the horrors of Tylenol poisoning.

12. So.. aspirin with lots of beer
I kid.

For some reason I knew not to take too many Tylenol. Now that I know what it is I'll pay more attention.

Thanks.
