13. I think those are ropes in the enlarged photo.

Directly from where his hand is and going up and the lower section midway between the climber and the bottom.

8. That some pretty rugged terrain. You're in AZ, right? So I'm guessing it is

and will get pretty hot out in those rocks pretty soon.

I have a friend who climbs, and when I mentioned to him last summer that I was going up Mt. Whitney he was like "East Face or East Buttress?" and I was all like "uh, main hiking trail? :shrug:" </teeny-bopper verbiage>.

Serious climbers are some pretty intense people...
