At Work, Would You Throw Someone Under the Bus To Save Your Own Ass?
Me either, but from my experience, you would be the exception if you said "no"....

1. No, but I have had it done to me
:-(

Sticking by your principles does cost a person.

2. No, but I have seen it done more than I'd like to
I've made enemies more than once by not doing so, and for speaking up about inequity in the workplace. I don't mind really, and I have at least learned how to do it more diplomatically.

3. Depends on the person.

99% of the folks I've worked with are okay, so I would act professionally towards them, but the other 1% were real assholes.

Not only would I throw them under the bus, I'd get in the bus and drive it over them.

4. I've thrown people under the bus as it were
but it had nothing to do with saving my ass-it was because they had earned it.

I take responsibility for my own screw ups.

6. Depends who I'm throwing.
Is the potential throwee breathtakingly incompetent? Is he/she the type who throws other employees under the bus him/herself?

9. Not another employee; I'm a real estate attorney
And we are constantly being blamed for screw ups on the part of the mortgage company or the real estate agent. It harms my reputation, and it is NEVER true. I certainly own up to my own errors.

Unfortunately, I represent the lender at closing and the agents are my source of business...so...I simply apologize for something I haven't done and meekly go about my business.

7. Well, I wouldn't do it falsely. If I was responsible, I wouldn't let someone else take the fall.
But I learned the hard way not to cover for someone who did screw up unless there is a very compelling reason to do so. I got burned by someone who allowed me to cover for their fuck-ups and then used it against me. May karma bite her in the ass hard.

10. If I had nothing to do with the matter at hand and was
accused of such, hell yes!

There are many instances here at work where people try to throw each other under the bus. I refrain, but if they throw me, and I have nothing to own up to, you can be sure I will throw them in.

12. No.
There's no one in my department that would do that. We are pretty close.
