Used to rent increases of $15 or $25, this year it's a shocker at $100...
yet doing some research has shown the rent being asked is - while slightly higher than 70% of the properties in my area, still very reasonable.

I could move; spend $2k to move to the next closest complex and walk another 1/4th mile... save $125/mo... but that could open up new problems and I'd be stuck there a year and to meet the added cost of the move, I'd have to live there at least 18 months...

1.  Because so many foreclosures
are sending people to find places to rent, and the demand went way up? Sheesh, ya can't win... :(

2. Quite. And if I were to move now,
by next year their prices would catch up too.

Housing prices are down, so maybe in a year -- $100/mo for 12 months is nothing compared to other factors and I want my loan amount near zero again. (The big purchases being the new computer and laptop, of which I have no regrets.)

3. I told the apartment manager lady that I'd dump sugar in her gas tank if she upped my rent again.
Every time I re-sign the lease they raise it 25 bucks!

4. My property taxes went up $600 this year...
 Maybe that's the case for your landlord too.

6. Good point...

It'll hurt. A flesh wound, but like my aunt says, "it's only money". :)
