Do you have a "dream"?
Some people want to strike it rich.

Some people want to meet the perfect someone.

Some people want to live or travel to an exotic location.

Do YOU have a dream?

3. Not really
I kinda sorta wanted to be a rock star or maybe a Broadway diva. But I never wanted either one bad enough to fight for it, if you know what I mean, and now I'm too old. Didn't matter--neither was my destined path in life. I just kind of go with the flow, follow my nose, whatever cliche you prefer.

Sometimes I dream of spending my retirement in a wee cottage in England, learning how to garden properly. But first, perhaps, a dream of winning the lottery...

7. My dear Mr. Ected...
Not just a dream...many dreams.

Most will not come true...

I really want to see my poetry published and read, far and wide.

That's the big one...

How about you? What dream drives you?

:hi:

14. CaliforniaPeggy: You unwittingly spawned my resurrected dream
It's a long story. From 1993 to 1998, my wife and I dreamed of moving to Europe.

In 1998, we were successful in our quest. We moved to Germany, and later to Holland.

We lived there for almost 8 years. But our plan was flawed, and a return to the States was necessary.

We've toiled away for almost 4 years now, licking our wounds and missing Europe deeply.

When you posted your European photos, they rekindled the dream. We can do this again. We can do it better this time. It will take time and effort, but we already know what it takes.

So my dream is to return to Europe and pursue my passion there. Teaching.

Just a little selfish dream, but it's all mine.

15. I don't think your dream is selfish at all!
I think it's a wonderful dream, and I hope that you make it work this time!

And I am humbly proud of my small contribution...

Thank you for sharing that with me.

8. Yeah, and it sucks.
I want to start a gluten-free grocery. As I can do math, I fully realize that even if I somehow made this a success, the most I could hope to do would be to break even. (There are maybe a million diagnosed celiacs in the entire country; no doubt there is some multiple of this number actually suffering from celiac disease, but as they don't know it, they would hardly be likely to be customers.) But I still want to do it, very very much.

9. How about an on-line, virtual grocery?
You could potentially reach more people that way...

Just a thought!

17. That is indeed the plan. I keep putting it off because a) I have similar levels of pessimism towards
the likelihood of success mainly because b) there are already a boatload of them out there. But I'm going to start a gluten-free cuisine blog (there are a boatload of them, too) and become an affiliate with Amazon, linking to GF products there that I have kitchen-tested and love, and just not sweat the fact that I'm highly unlikely to make any money at it. It'll still be fun, and I'll feel like I did my bit to help others like me.

:hi: back!

16. Hey, that's my dream!
along with a cure for Type 1 diabetes. My 21 year old daughter was diagnosed at 10 and I hope, with stem cell research, we'll finally find a cure.

18. I am glad stem cell research has been started again.
What pisses me off is that EIGHT years of nearly no research has :grr:

I'm just pissed.

With dementia running in my family, there could have been research into these things that may well have slowed down the progression of the disease in someone close and dear to me.

:grr:
