USPS/mail pickup question............
If you leave mail in your mailbox for the carrier to pick up, are they required to do so? Or is it just a courtesy? The reason I ask is that my carriers routinely pass by my residential box when I have no incoming mail, even when I obviously have outgoing mail stamped, addressed and ready to go.

Preemptively, I want to say that I realize I could take my mail to a mailbox or to the post office, but I just want to be clear on the policy, and not to complain about some inconvenience to me. I've checked the USPS site, but I was unable to find any relevant info (but my google-fu is notoriously bad).

Thanx

1. Most mailboxes have some kind of flag or something you can raise
to let them know that you have outgoing mail.

3. Call your post office and find out
I'd say it depends on the situation. If they need to travel 2 hours over mountains and valleys on a snowmobile to get to your mailbox, they may prefer you call and say you need something picked up ;)

I'm totally guessing btw.

6. I live on a residential street..............
maybe one of these days I'll be able to get me a little hideaway in the hills, then the mailperson will be an annoyance.

Hope things are well with you Inch.

8. If the flag is up, they are supposed to stop.
If they aren't doing that, BY ALL MEANS complain! The postmaster needs to know about that!
